Guided Birdwatching Walks
Friends of MBS organises regular Birdwatching Walks and other events for the community, led by people well-versed in birds of the area. Keep an eye on the events schedule above to see when the next walk/event is taking place, or contact us if you’d like to enquire about organising a group tour.

Saturday 13th
Bird Watching Walk @ Alfred Cove
8.30am - 10.00am
Please join Friends of Melville Bird Sanctuary for a guided Birdwatching Walk starting from the Bird Viewing Platform at the entrance to Troy Park (opp 194 Burke Dr, Attadale).
Led by Lesley Macauley, a Friends of Melville Bird Sanctuary volunteer and long-time member of Birdlife WA, the walk will explore birdlife at Alfred Cove and Point Waylen.
Highlights include our resident Osprey pair (possibly with juvenile from 2 years ago), Musk Ducks in courtship, Black Swans, Great Egret, White-faced Herons and other shore and bushbirds.
You will also have a chance to see early revegetation work in progress at Point Waylen.
Please arrive at 8.15am to register. The Walk starts at 8.30am and concludes at approx 10am
Please wear warm clothing, closed shoes, a hat and bring binoculars (if you have them), a raincoat and a bottle of water. A limited number of spare binoculars will be available.
